There are several
types of spica casts. They begin at the chest and may extend
down to cover one leg, both legs, or the leg on one side
and down to the hip or knee of the other side. The doctor
will decide what type of spica cast your child needs.

The doctors were very well informed and explanatory of the
procedure and medical aspects of the surgery, but we had
many logistical questions about after the casting that I
couldn’t seem to find a lot of answers for. We had
a lot of questions about daily operations such as diapering,
travel, clothing, sleeping, and comfortable seating. We wanted
to have things prepared for directly after the procedure
to make the transition smooth.
